What to include in a correction report
- the URL of the court-records.us/ page;
- the heading or passage containing the issue;
- the link, fee, address, telephone number, office hour, court name, request method, or instruction you believe is incorrect;
- the corrected information, if known;
- a link to the current official court, clerk, judiciary, or government source; and
- the date you observed the change if the issue involves an outage, redirect, or recent portal migration.
How we review a correction

- Determine which court or clerk controls the information. We do not automatically assume the first search result is authoritative.
- Compare current official sources. We review the court website, clerk page, judiciary portal, official form, fee schedule, rule, notice, or public directory.
- Resolve conflicting information where possible. If multiple official sources disagree, we consider recency and which office administers the process.
- Correct confirmed errors. We update inaccurate facts, obsolete links, misleading instructions, or descriptions that overstate the scope of a portal.
- Refresh the review date when warranted. Material re-verification may result in an updated page date.
Examples of useful reports
- a county clerk replaced its case-management vendor;
- a statewide search no longer includes a particular court type;
- a courthouse moved or changed public-record counter hours;
- a clerk changed copy or certification fees;
- an online docket link now requires an account;
- a court split civil and criminal searches into separate portals;
- a PDF request form was replaced;
- a page incorrectly describes a county portal as statewide;
- an older case archive now requires a separate search method; or
- a guide implies that an online docket is a certified court record when it is not.
What we can correct
We can change information that appears on court-records.us/. If our page contains an inaccurate factual statement, broken source, outdated procedure, incorrect court description, misleading link label, accessibility issue, or other problem within our control, we can review and correct it.
What we cannot change
We do not control state court databases, federal court systems, PACER, county clerk systems, municipal court systems, appellate dockets, probate files, electronic filing systems, judicial opinions, or courthouse files. We cannot delete, seal, expunge, vacate, redact, amend, or correct an underlying court record.

If a case has been sealed, expunged, vacated, dismissed, or corrected
If a page on our website describes an access path that no longer reflects the public status of a record category, send us the page URL and the official source showing the current rule or status. Do not send highly sensitive court documents unless they are genuinely necessary for us to understand the issue.
Removing search-engine results
Search engines are separate from court-records.us/. If a court has changed or removed material but a search engine still displays an older cached result, the first step is usually to confirm that the source page has changed. The search engine may then offer its own cache-refresh or removal process.
Do not send unnecessary sensitive information
Please do not email Social Security numbers, full financial account numbers, passwords, complete driver’s-license numbers, full unredacted identity documents, protected medical records, confidential juvenile documents, sealed filings, or similarly sensitive material merely to report an editorial problem.
Accessibility issues
If one of our pages is difficult to use with a keyboard, screen reader, browser zoom, voice control, mobile device, or another assistive technology, send the page URL and describe the barrier. If comfortable, include the browser or assistive technology involved.

Questions we cannot answer
We cannot tell you how a judge will rule, whether a case will be dismissed, whether a warrant remains active, whether a filing is legally sufficient, whether you should sue or appeal, whether a record may lawfully be used for employment or housing, or whether you qualify for sealing or expungement. Those questions require the court, applicable law, or professional legal advice.
