Citrus County FL Clerk of Court: Records & Services
Need to search a Citrus County court case, get a certified divorce judgment, check a criminal docket, pay a traffic ticket, find a recorded deed, or apply for a marriage license? The Citrus County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller provides these services through separate official systems.
For court cases, start with SCORSS — the Secured Courts Online Record Search System. For deeds, mortgages, liens and other recorded property documents, use the separate Landmark Official Records Search.
The Clerk also introduced digital certification of court documents on February 2, 2026. That means eligible certified court records can now be purchased online without making a trip to the courthouse.

SCORSS vs. Official Records: Which Citrus County Search Should You Use?
SCORSS — Court Records Search
Use this system for publicly accessible Citrus County Circuit and County Court cases. Examples include criminal charges, civil lawsuits, family cases, probate, traffic citations and court docket information.

Landmark — Official Records Search
Use this system for recorded deeds, mortgages, liens, satisfactions, notices and other non-court official-record instruments. The current online recorded-document index includes documents from 1980 onward.

How to Search Citrus County Court Records Online Using SCORSS
SCORSS provides public court-case searches without requiring an account for basic case information. Registration is available for authorized roles, including attorneys of record, parties and approved government personnel.
- Open the correct portal. Visit the official SCORSS website, or reach it from the Clerk’s Court Records Search page.
- Choose public access. You can search as an anonymous public user; an account is not required to look up basic case information.
- Enter the case information. For a name search, enter the person’s last name and first name in the search criteria. If you have the case number, use that to reduce mistaken matches.
- Run the search. Review the matching Citrus County cases. If several names look alike, compare case type, case number, filing date and other visible details.
- Open the case number. Select the case-number link to view the case summary and permitted docket or document information.
- Check the later entries. A complaint, motion or charge being filed does not necessarily mean it was granted, proven or resolved in that party’s favor.
- Review public images where available. Documents may be displayed for permitted public access. Some images may be restricted by the Florida Supreme Court’s security matrix.
- Order a certified record only if needed. For eligible documents, use the document checkboxes and SCORSS electronic certification checkout rather than relying on a normal PDF printout.
What Citrus County Court Cases Can You Search?
Charges, court filings, hearings, dispositions and sentencing-related records that are public. Sealed or expunged cases are not ordinarily disclosed.
Lawsuits, small claims, evictions, foreclosures, judgments, collections and civil proceedings.
Dissolutions, parentage, support, custody and protective-order matters, subject to privacy restrictions.
Probate administration, estate filings, wills and certain trust-related proceedings.
Some docket details may be public, but medical, personal and other protected records can be restricted.
Traffic citations, criminal traffic offenses and eligible case payment information.
The Clerk also provides public-record searching at courthouse kiosks. Authorized viewing roles can provide greater access than anonymous internet access, but only where Florida court-access rules permit it.
How Far Back Do Citrus County Court Records Go?
Citrus County publishes starting years for different case-type indexes. These are important clues when a case does not appear in an internet search. They should not be interpreted as a guarantee that every historical filing or image can be retrieved online.
| Case type | Published index starting year | What that means for a search |
|---|---|---|
| Domestic Relations (DR) | 1968 | Old divorce or family case information may exist in the index; images or access can differ. |
| Traffic Criminal (CT) | 1973 | Historical criminal traffic information may require clerk help. |
| Probate (CP) | 1974 | Older estate records may need manual research. |
| Misdemeanor (MM) | 1974 | An index start year is not a complete background-check guarantee. |
| Small Claims (SC) | 1974 | Case images and copies may require a separate request. |
| Guardianship (GA) | 1972 | Some records can be confidential despite historical indexing. |
| Marriage License (ML) | 1939 | Historical index coverage and digital images are different things. |
| Traffic Infractions (TR) | 1991 | For older tickets, contact the Clerk if proof is needed. |
| Probate Wills (CPWL) | 1992 | Search the correct case category. |
| Official recorded documents | 1980 | Landmark offers an index and PDF images; 1887–1979 records may require hardcopy or microfilm research. |

How to Get Digitally Certified Citrus County Court Documents
On February 2, 2026, the Clerk introduced digitally certified court-record copies through SCORSS. The service creates a digitally signed, tamper-evident, self-validating certified document, useful when a recipient requires proof that the copy comes from the Clerk.
- Find the correct case in SCORSS. Open SCORSS and search by name or case number.
- Open the case record. Click its case-number link. Depending on confidentiality, you may need to log in with an eligible authorized account.
- Select document images. Use the checkboxes in the far-right column beside the eligible documents that you want digitally certified.
- Open the cart. Select Go to Cart in the upper-right corner.
- Read and accept the terms. Continue to the cart after reviewing the transaction conditions.
- Proceed to checkout. Review the current charges, provide the information requested and complete payment.
- Keep the electronically certified file. Preserve the original digital document and its validation features rather than assuming a screenshot is equivalent to the electronic certificate.
Official process: Clerk E-Certify and Electronically Certified Documents.
How to Request a Citrus County Court History Record Search
A SCORSS name lookup is not the same as a formal Clerk-prepared court-history search. Citrus County provides a specific Court History Record Search Request form for that task.
| Item | Published rule or fee | Important detail |
|---|---|---|
| Court-history search | $2 per year searched | The request form uses a beginning and ending search year. |
| Additional alias | Additional search | Each alias is counted as a separate search. |
| No-record confirmation | $7 | Optional confirmation if no records are found and you authorize it. |
| Regular document copy | $1 per page | Applies when paper copies are requested. |
| Certified document copy | Certification charge applies | The Court History form lists $3 per document; confirm the current price with the Clerk. |
- Open the official Court History Record Search Request form.
- Enter the person’s exact first and last names and any requested identifying information.
- Enter the starting and ending years you want searched.
- If you need an alias searched, add it as a separate request because the Clerk counts aliases individually.
- Choose whether you want a no-record confirmation if nothing is found.
- Confirm total fees and submit through the Clerk’s permitted request channel.
How to Search Citrus County Deeds, Mortgages, Liens and Official Records
The Clerk also serves as county recorder. Unlike court-case searches, recorded property instruments are found through Landmark Web Official Records Search, whose online index and document images generally begin January 1, 1980.
- Open Landmark. Visit Official Records Search.
- Read the site’s access conditions. Accept the disclaimer to continue into the search options.
- Choose the search method. Use Name, Document, Book & Page, Instrument Number, Record Date or available Legal Search options.
- Search the recorded document. For deeds and mortgages, a grantor/grantee name or recording date can help. Use known instrument or book/page numbers when available.
- Verify the record. Compare parties, recording date, instrument type, property details and document number.
- Open the PDF image. The online PDF is for reference; it is not automatically a certified copy.
- Request certification if required. Follow the Clerk E-Certify process for eligible recorded documents.
The Clerk introduced a separate consumer eRecording service in June 2026 for select non-property-transferring instruments, including certain liens, notices and affidavits. It is not intended for deeds that transfer ownership. Read current recording rules.
Citrus County FL Traffic Tickets: Pay, Elect School or Request a Hearing
For eligible Florida traffic citations, the Clerk says you have 30 days from the citation’s issue date to choose one of the available responses. Missing that deadline can result in late fees and driver’s-license suspension.
Use the official payment route when payment is permitted. Check whether paying will result in a conviction or points.
The Clerk offers eligible payment plans, but notes that traffic-school election is not available with the payment-plan option.
Eligible drivers may elect school and sometimes receive a reduced civil penalty. Not all offenses qualify.
Use the official Not Guilty Plea and Request for Hearing process to contest the citation.
- Open the official Traffic Tickets page.
- Read the options that apply to the violation on your citation, including any mandatory appearance requirement.
- Use the case or citation number to verify the record through SCORSS where appropriate.
- Choose payment, traffic school, payment plan, withholding adjudication request or hearing, depending on eligibility.
- For a contested citation, follow the Request Court Hearing procedure.
- Save the confirmation, check future deadlines and verify completion of any ordered action.
Citrus County Marriage Licenses and Certified Marriage Records
Citrus County lets couples begin marriage applications through its online Marriage Kiosk. Both applicants must later appear in person with acceptable photo identification to finish the licensing process.
- Open the Clerk’s Marriage Licenses page.
- Use the online Marriage Kiosk to enter the application information.
- Arrange the required in-person visit to the Inverness or Crystal River office.
- Both applicants must bring valid identification and, if previously married, the exact date the previous marriage ended.
- Review the Family Law Handbook and any required premarital-course documentation.
- Pay the applicable license fee and follow the Clerk’s final issuance instructions.
| Marriage service | Published fee | Rule |
|---|---|---|

| With qualifying premarital course | $61 | Course certificate required; three-day Florida-resident waiting period waived. |
| Additional certified marriage copy | $3 each | Purchased after the marriage license is recorded. |

Public Records RequestsWhy Some Citrus County Court Records Are Not Publicly Viewable

Not ordinarily released through public online searches.
Can be subject to statutory confidentiality restrictions.
Certain documents, financial information and identifying details may be protected.
Some images are restricted even where the case index may be publicly searchable.
